Bob, who co-founded The Weinstein Company with Harvey at 2005, insists that he had no idea about the “kind of predator” that his brother was, admitting that he knew Harvey wasn’t faithful to his wife Georgina Chapman.
“I could not take his cheating, his lying and also his attitude towards everybody. As a father of 3 girls, I say this with every bone in my body — I am heartbroken for the women that he has harmed. I’m a fighter. For my entire adult life, I fought for the films I want to see the light of day. I’ve fought for my workers, who have committed their lives to attaining the vision of the company that me and my brother explained. But I can’t fight what is indefensible. I have a brother that’s indefensible and mad, I need him to get the justice that he deserves. Harvey was a bully, Harvey was arrogant, he treated people like shit all the time. That I knew.” Said Bob, based on The Hollywood Reporter.
Bob went on to state that he knew his brother better than anyone, he’d spoken to Harveyabout 10 times on a personal level in the previous five decades.
Weinstein is at the middle of a still-unfolding scandal in which eight women were said in a New York Times report as having obtained settlements from Weinstein after levelling sexual harassment allegations at the producer. He attained at least eight settlements with girls between 1990 and 2015.
Following this, another report from The New Yorker worsened the crisis, including three claims of rape to the allegations.
The listing of actresses and models who suffered sexual abuse from Weinstein continues to grow and now numbers around 40, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. All the alleged victims have spoken up about the rape, sexual harassment and assault they reportedly suffered at the hands of Harvey.
When the story came out, Weinstein denied some of the allegations but also confessed he had behaved improperly at times during his career.
